I am an economist currently working for the Development Research Group of the World Bank and my current research focus on how firms in developing countries respond to the challenges and opportunities of globalisation, commodity prices and energy efficiency.
In recently completed my PhD at University of Sussex, and previously I was at Bocconi University in Milan and Universidad Torcuato di Tella in Buenos Aires.
My PhD thesis focused on the "Analysis of the Firm-Level Impact of NAFTA in Mexico" and I was supervised by Alan Winters from Department of Economics, Sherman Robinson from the Department of Economics and IDS, and Gustavo Crespi previously at SPRU and currently at IDRC.
In the past I have been awarded an ODI Fellowship and have been working as economic advisor for the Unit of Private Sector Development of the Ministry of Agriculture of Mozambique where I was involved in research and advisory work on agribusiness promotion, finance, export and FDI promotion, trade negotiations.
I have also been working as consultant and advisor for various international organisations, namely WB, WTO, USAID, EC, UNIDO, UNDP, DfID in both Africa (South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana) and Latin America (Mexico, Nicaragua and Peru).
